About

True North is a nuanced phrase. For most people it is a navigation term, calculated by factoring magnetic declination against compass reading to determine the direction of the North Pole. For Canadians, it evokes patriotic memories as a key phrase in the English version of the national anthem:

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.1

Hopefully, both images reflect what happens at True North. I want to point toward undeviated truth as I write about Christianity, the Bible, and my homeland Canada. By doing so, I intend to “stand on guard” for freedom in the biblical sense — freedom from the penalty for sin that comes only through faith in the atoning work of Jesus Christ on the cross.2 This blog is about proclaiming God’s truth for people both in my “home and native land” and beyond.
